Geocache Description:

Beware!! This cache is not for the easily frightened. It should not be attempted by anyone with a weak heart or in poor physical condition.

I placed this cache in Emmenegger Park because of an article I read buried deep in the back of our local newspaper. They like to keep things quiet in Kirkwood. I’ve included the article so you can understand what I mean.

Dateline: 01, October 2001

An anonymous tip lead local law enforcement officials to a spot slightly off the beaten path in Emmeneggar Park. Upon their arrival, authorities spotted what appeared to be a scattering of fur and a pile of discarded clothing.
Further inspection revealed that there is more to the story than circumstances prescribe. Each piece of fur was examined and discarded as the corpses of several small animals; however, the pile of clothing was actually the dehydrated remains of a human being.
The coroner was quoted as saying,” In my thirty-six years as coroner, I’ve never seen anything like this!” A preliminary inspection of the body revealed that over 95% of all fluids, including blood had been drained, leaving the corpse in a partially mummified condition. Several small pinpricks were seen near the joining of the shoulder and neck, but further investigation is needed to determine the cause of death.
Law enforcement officials have made attempts to identify the body, but thus far, all attempts have been unsuccessful.
The following information has been released in hopes that the public will be able to help with the identification. The victim is a white male, light brown hair and green eyes. He is approximately five feet eleven inches tall, muscular, and in life may have weighed about 215 lbs. The body contains no identification marks, but was clutching a hand held global positioning unit.
Officials are completely baffled and feel there may be clues they have overlooked. Any help from the public will be appreciated. Please call with information…………

I am very familiar with the park and decided to try and find the spot the body was located. After an exhausting afternoon I came upon a spot that looked to have a paint outline of a body. This is where I decided to place the cache. But I must warn you, all the time I was there I had the feeling I was being watched. I placed the cache and left as quickly as possible.
If you park at the rock drive and gate, please don’t climb the hill to your right even though it looks to be the most direct route. The erosion in that area is severe and should be avoided. If you walk a little further on the trail, the hill to your right levels out and is the preferred way to approach the cache.

Good luck
Butch
